Inventor Emmett Chapman has Stick #101. This is #156 from the original batch that he made. This and the first 100 or so have a narrower nut width, meaning the strings are closer together and the Stick fits well within your hand. This Stick was retrofitted with a fixed truss rod, anchored by two pins installed as a service Emmett offered in the interests of keeping the Stick straight and string action low. A plastic plate was affixed beneath the tuners, affording more downward pressure on the nut slots by the strings. The all-wood belt housing was only used in the first 100 sticks, to be followed by one made of spring steel. The all-wood pickup cover was also only in the earliest batch. The case appears to be original, is structurally sound, but has numerous ships and scrapes. The interior foam on almost all stick cases grew dry and crumbly throught the years, thus this stick case has been retrofitted at some point with a homemade foam block and cutouts. I originally owned Stick #182 in the late 70's and wanted to see if I would prefer the original Stick specs when I purchased this last year, but find that I have gotten used to my slightly wider Stick, purchased in 1980. Because of that, I have decided to pass this collector's item on.
