Yamaha GC-5 1979, Hideyuki Ezaki

A 1979 Yamaha GC-5 (cc) with cedar top, made by premier luthier, Hideyuki Ezaki. I hesitate to describe instruments as ‘mint’, but in this case, I feel it would be wrong not to.
 I am a huge fan of Ezaki, and I feel his instruments have more character than Kohno’s from the same period. Hernandez y Aguado thought so much of his skills that they added him to their team in order to finish off various high end guitars. Ezaki is still making in Japan, and his entry level instruments start at around 6k usd. This instrument sounds as though it should have another zero on the price tag. It comes from the time when Yamaha spared no expense to establish themselves as players in the classical guitar world, doing the best research, hiring the best craftsmen.
 The guitar has very distinct voice separation, with a body resonance between G and G#.  The tonal character is golden age, Spanish in essence, and the volume is impressive.
 The scale is 650, the nut width is 52. The action at 12F is 4/3.5 with a bit of saddle left.
You will find similar guitars priced at around one thousand dollars.
