Vintage Applause by Ovation AE-38 Acoustic-Electric Guitar This eminently playable, comfortable guitar features Ovation's acoustically designed "plastic" bowl for the back and sides, a unique feature that makes for a tough little guitar. The Lyrachord bowl will take a beating like a wooden guitar won't and is factory designed to enhance and project the acoustic vibrations of the guitar. The AE-38 series is the "thin" bowl series and therefore fits a little closer to the body, without giving up any of the real benefits of Ovation's proprietary design. This guitar sounds great and the electronics, though age appropriate, still function well. It has a gorgeous tobacco burst finish on the top and still looks great with a few signs of wear, given its vintage age. The nut has been repaired, and the bridge is just starting to lift a little, but that in no way affects the playability.
I've had the guitar for approximately 12 years (received it as a gift from the original owner, a former gigging and touring musician who passed away earlier this year,) and it is thoroughly enjoyed and played almost daily by several members of the family. Includes mis-branded thick nylon gig bag with slight padding and colorful guitar strap.
