This gorgeous Avalon L-335 Legacy Premier Cedar Walnut sounds absolutely fantastic and is from the first generation of Legacy Premiers which Avalon built after separating from Lowden and is similar to the Lowden S-7 or O model in tone and build quality, being of the highest spec and has a K&K Pure Western Pickup. It was number 6 of (build number 0006) all the Legacy Premiers which Avalon built and was handmade in Northern Ireland for the NAMM 2004 show. Beats many of the Martin Acoustics I have owned hands down!
Avalon, who are also based in Northern Ireland, will always be related to their close neighbours Lowden as the skilled luthiers who created Avalon originally worked for Lowden. Lowden have certainly now made a name for themselves in their own right and created a unique identity. Many deem the Avalon guitars to be superior to the Lowdens in the same price bracket.
Avalon guitars are instantly recognisable by their use of bridge pins instead of a string-through bridge, creating a bit more what would be best referred to as 'americana tone' without losing the mysterious, deep, Celtic 'piano-like' character.
The Top is premium red cedar, the back and sides are flamed cedar walnut which give this guitar such a magical tone. It has a Brasilian rosewood bridge and headplate and also a two part saddle.
