I am reluctantly selling what one Guild expert described to me as "rare as hen's teeth":
1959 Guild M-30 "Ghost Label" Mahogany Acoustic Guitar
This is a gorgeous guitar both aesthetically and acoustically. The M-30 is the slightly larger version of the M-20, which so many associate (perhaps erroneously based on one album cover) with the great British fingerpicker and master of alternate tunings, Nick Drake. Essentially, the M-30 is a mahogany version of the F-30, a guitar made famous by legends such as Paul Simon and Mississippi John Hurt.
The guitar has low, comfortable action, w/ room left on the saddle for future adjustments if they are ever needed. Little to no fret-wear, no buzzing frets, and has been kept humidified in a case when not in use for all of its five years in my care. It also comes with a gorgeous deluxe Guild-logoed hard-shell case w/ a crushed green velvet interior. This M-30 features beautiful, vibrant dark Mahogany, whose red highlights really come out under sunlight. In addition, it features a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The guitar is all original except for a bone saddle replacement (original plastic one in case) and bone bridge pins.
I purchased the guitar in December 2015 from a collector in Northern California. The only work done on the guitar beyond a standard set-up, was commissioned by the previous owner to pre-emptively re-enforce the center seam on the back of the guitar to make sure no separation (a common issue in vintage acoustics) would occur later in the guitar's life. There was / is no separation. The work was expertly done by Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, CA, and once again, only for pre-emptive measures. The guitar has been stable in every way for the five years I have owned it.
This old Guild is a stunner and super-rare. It's a once-in-a-lifetime find in this condition. I will be sorry to part with it, but times are tough.
