Lefties rejoice. The Fender Custom Shop meticulously recreates the classic 1951 Precision Bass with stunning detail in this Vintage Custom ‘51 P-Bass. Originally introduced as a replacement for the bulky upright bass, the 51 P features a large full-bodied neck inspired from the upright it was trying to replace. The fretboard features a true vintage spec 7.25” radius with vintage sized fret wire and flat wound strings just as it did in 1951. The Nitro Cellulose lacquer has been sprayed on as an unbuffed “flash coat” giving this instrument an authentic vintage look that will age naturally and wear over time and use (in good way). Other period correct details include the natural wood thumb rest/thumb pull and the fiber sting saddles, wow Fender really did their homework.
