The Accuphase C-230 is a flagship vintage high-fidelity control amplifier that was released in Japan in 1979, during the “Golden Era” of Japanese high-quality audio equipment. Like other Golden Era Accuphase amps, this unit is remarkable for both its highly advanced circuit engineering and the high quality of the components used in its construction. The first striking thing about the C-230 is the front panel, which features a plentitude of push buttons, offering a pleasing tactile interface not found in most other control amps. The C-230 features a superb circuit layout, with a completely symmetric push-pull circuit for all amplification stages, including the headphone amp. The equalizer amplifier output stage features a MOS FET design for high linearity and SNR. The headphone amplifier is a pure Class-A DC computer direct connection dedicated amplifier. The NF loop of all unit amplifiers avoid capacitors for DC cut, which removes coloration of the audio signal. There are a number of other top-notch engineering feats in this amplifier.
