Sony SCD-777ES: An ultra-high-end SACD player for audiophiles!
The Sony SACD-777ES, released in 1999, is an audiophile-targeting high-fidelity CD and stereo SACD player. It offers a number of interesting innovations in both digital signal processing and electrical engineering for the playback of digital audio. This player features an Accurate Complementary Pulse (ACP) Density Modulation System, which was designed to ensure the accuracy of the DSD signal during SACD playback. The SCD-777ES includes the S-TACT IC, whereby the noise shaping (digital) and pulse generation (analog) are separated and independently processed, suppressing the influence of digital noise on the analog signal. The DAC is one of the most important components of any digital player and has a huge influence on the final sound, and Sony really nailed this one. The DAC incorporates a current-pulse scheme, which avoids influence from voltage fluctuation and enhances the SNR of the audio signal. This CD player is in very good condition, with some signs of age and use (please see photos), including some scratches and dirt. There is a large scratch on the top surface.
