An incredibly clean Kay-made Old Kraftsman 3 pickup Speed Demon
This Kay has double line Kluson tuners which date it to the mid to late 1960s and the Old Kraftsman branding was for distribution through the Spiegel catalog. The neck is poplar with a truss rod and a bound rosewood fretboard. The frets are brass and have very little wear. The body is poplar with laminate maple arched caps and is bound in celluloid. On the back edge of the cutaway and along the treble side of the fingerboard there is an old ivoroid binding splice. The speed bump pickups are super clean and shiny and the pickguard has aged nicely though the mounting hardware doesn’t appear to be original. The bridge topper has been shaved down some. The Bigsby is definitely old and has the long arm.
