1995 Gibson Thunderbird IV Limited Edition Neck Through Electric Bass Ebony w/ Case

Up for sale, a 1995 Gibson Thunderbird IV bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. As its name would suggest, this bass has plenty of thunder and growl on tap, producing ample low end thump and grind. Featuring nine-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through body construction, black hardware, a three-point bridge, and an Ebony gloss nitro lacquer finish, the Thunderbird delivers the goods via two imposing TB Plus ceramic magnet humbuckers. The pickups deliver the kind of push and compression that brings out the growl in the mahogany and walnut construction, and a thick slab ebony fretboard adds top end detail and note attack. Currently strung with roundwound 45-100 strings on the full 34" scale, these strings accentuate the rich, aggressive tendencies of the Thunderbird design. The bass weighs 9lbs 8oz with virtually no neck dive thanks to the low profile Schaller-made tuning machines. This Thunderbird has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The neck has a modestly slender C shape at the nut, with good shoulder in every register and quite a bit of increase in depth and overall heft as you travel up the slab ebony fingerboard, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th. The ebony fretboard retains the original medium jumbo frets which have flawless crowns and play easily in every register. The nut measures 1 1/2" in width, and the headstock retains the original Gibson-branded truss rod cover as well as the Gibson-branded and Schaller-made black tuning machines. The bass also features a "Limited Edition" graphic at the headstock joint.

The guitar does exhibit an expertly repaired V-shaped fracture across the treble half of the headstock joint. Repaired both structurally and cosmetically with targeted touchup, the bass holds pitch perfectly with full string tension.

The electronics all function as intended, with an untouched wiring harness. The black hardware is exceptionally clean, and the trio of original reflector cap knobs are intact. The pickguard retains a fully intact Thunderbird silkscreen, a testament to the sparingly little use this bass has seen since new. Cosmetic wear is limited to a couple shallow nicks on the back south of the strap button, one finish chip just south of the control cavity cover on the back, and a few additional light finish scratches and marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile is pristine.

The original brown Gibson USA hardshell case is included.
