Global SG With New Pickups And Bridge

The exact brand/manufacturer are up for debate on this one, but the iconic SG body undeniable here. This one is an old relic of a by gone era most likely the 60s or 70s based on the hardware, and given new life with a rocking pickup set, completely refurbished neck, and new bridge. We picked it up from someone who had about as much idea as we do to the origins of this axe. I was blown away by how good this guitar felt with the neck work done.

Most of the frets had delaminated over the years. We at Andyz began by filing down each fret and balancing the neck. The choice of placing a fret above the 1st one (we joked that this is the 1/2 fret) caused some fretting out issues. However, with proper adjustment, and a shim, the neck came in perfectly and feels so smooth.

Someone had tried to stick a bigsby on this SG by drilling into the plywood body. It looked terrible and threw the whole thing out so we scrapped it and placed in a brand new Gibson style bridge and saddle.

The original humbuckers have been replaced by a Gibson standard single coil in the bridge position, and a Gibson standard humbucker in the neck. The two dual positions switches allow you to engage one or both pickups at the same time that delivers a unique tone that you won't be able to get on more modern wired guitars. Internal wiring is original, just given a nice clean to get rid of the sound of scratchy pots.

I very much recommend this guitar. The work put into it has really transformed it into a stellar instrument, and I hope you will be just as pleasantly surprised as I was at it.
