Biltmore Herald Archtop 1950s Sunburst image
Sorry, this Biltmore Herald Archtop listing has sold.

If you're looking for a great deal on a snappy archtop, you've found it. This Biltmore is a very Harmony like in its construction (it may have been built by Harmony), and features a laminated spruce top on laminated maple and mahogany back and sides. The Maple neck has a 1 3/4" wide nut and tinted fretboard with dot inlays. Its profile is somewhat triangular, but is very adept for jazz and blues chord styles.

Overall this guitar is exactly what you want from an old budget-friendly archtop. It has that great top-end snap you want when wailing on some blues progressions. The sound is delightfully snappy and balanced.

The body has some checking on the top and sides but is in great shape overall. There's some light scratches on the back as well as more with finish wear on the sides. The headstock just has minimal traces of wear on the top edge, but this is minor considering the guitar's age.

The action is at a medium height in the lower registers, higher in the upper. It does have some intonation issues past the twelfth fret with a few dead notes, but nothing too bad when playing on the lower registers. The neck has been reset resulting in a long-repaired crack along the neck and a small crack on the heel. The finish has had some touching up around the crack repairs. The bridge has been sanded down for better playability.
