Up for sale is a very special and rare bass. The Westone Concord and Concord 2 were produced by Matsumoko for a few years between 1981-1984. I believe this is a 1983. This one features the P and J Pickup setup for great versatility. This model is very hard to find and very worthwhile. I bought this 6 months ago or so, and it immediately became my number 1 for gigging and playing. It plays and sounds tight and focused and punchy. The neck is straight, the truss rod works great, and it plays like butter. The bridge has been upgraded to a nice heavy duty Gotoh, really as good as a bass bridge needs to be.
The control layout is as follows: 1 3 way switch for pickup selection, one master volume, and one tone per pickup. The tone knobs have a center detent which is neutral, and then one direction is a treble cut and one is a bass cut. The bass cut actually works great in live settings to clean up the boom that sometimes fills the air and makes mud.
There are a few chips and scratches but overall it is in great shape, and comes with the very cool original case with Westone logo.
There is what looks like a hairline split next to the lowest tuner (see pics) but it has never moved and I did insure that it was not a structural issue at all. I am a professional luthier and fix guitars every day. It is most likely a finish crack, but I did inject crazy glue to make sure it was solid. As I said, I am 99.9 percent certain that it will never be an issue.
I am selling to make room for new basses, because I can't help myself, even though it seems silly to sell such a sweet bass.
Let me know if you have any questions and I am certain that whoever ends up with this bass will be very happy!
