About This Listing

The Fiesta is a pretty rare guitar these days but the 'F' hole Fiesta's are very very few. The Alamo Fury had an 'F' hole and the story is that some were left on the line during the switch to Fiesta's. A poor man’s Danelectro (check out the bridge) at the time. Their distribution appears to have been regional (SW), which is why I’d never seen them before. The Fiesta's are very light & this one seems lighter then most. Early Alamo's were somewhat inspired by Rickenbacker guitars, but by 1965 their designs had clearly gone over the top. In fact, it’s safe to say that, even in a whacky pack like that of the mid-’60s, Alamo guitars were among the boldest in America! Like this 1965 single pickup Alamo Fiesta Model.
While these look like solidbodies, they’re actually hollow, with birch plywood top and back over a hollow core, a construction method Alamo preferred until the final days. This is a very light guitar! This one has an 'F' hole like the thinline Fenders. Cheap original strip tuners have been upgraded to vintage style pattern correct high quality Wilkenson tuners (next to last pic). As cool as the melted Strat style Alamo eye candy is to look at, these pretty much play better then you’d expect. This one has a high fret half way up, so I just use for slide (could easily be fixed). Pickguard is also missing top left tip. Very hard to notice.(see last photo). Actually, the little single-coils are no better or worse than much other ’60s fare (see photos), but let’s just say they sound amazing with a slide! Very old school. Comes w gig bag/ ships ASAP packed well. Shipping can be reduced if near S FL. (No, TX is not near S FL)  **I understand that these particular guitars are favored by none other than the master of tone Mr Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top-apparently he really likes the overdriven sound the pickups give out.  for slide it certainly has a fat 1960's grungy tone**
