15" Altec Lansing Super Duplex 604E, 16Ω, Circa 1970, Mahogany, N-1500-A Crossovers, All Minty!

These Speakers are one of the Holy Grail of Passive Floor Standing speakers, Made by Altec Lansing from the 1950's until the mid 1970's.  According to the serial number, these speakers were made the 3rd week of 1970, 391703, March 1970. and the Crossovers 704, April 1970.  These Altec Lansing Super Duplex 604E speakers are rated by most experts as one of the top ten speakers ever made -- I think they are in the top 3!  
Perfect for a large space like a home with a vaulted ceiling or a large loft!  Room filling sound and amazingly detailed sound quality! 
These speakers are One Family owned. My uncle would buy speakers like these new, use them for a very short time, box them back up, store them and then move onto something else that was either interesting or popular for that time period! These speakers have seen very little usage. These speakers are all original from 1970.   
These Altec Lansing Super Duplex 604E are in Excellent condition cosmetically. I am rating them 8/10 to be on the conservative side but I believe they are more like 9/10. There are the typical but less than typical, very minor marks and rubs on the bottom of the casings and a few very minor blemishes elsewhere. The cabinetry is Mahogany veneer which is very RARE!  And, the lattice Grills are also wood with NO chips, cracks or missing pieces! Functionally these Super Duplex 604E speakers are Mint. There are no issues and they sound absolutely amazing even with smaller wattage amplifiers like a Marantz 2215 4415 2220 2225 2230 2240 2250 and the like and or especially with tube amps because of the high efficiency rating of the speakers which is 16 Ohm and 98dB at 1 meter, 3 ft. from the source--and better--as much as 100dB at .5m or 1.5 to 2 feet from the source. 
I WOULD PREFER LOCAL PICK-UP RATHER THAN SHIPPING EVEN INTRASTATE TO CALIFORNIA!  
These speakers are relatively heavy and bulky and must be crated and shipped so I am charging $400 for shipping even though it may cost me more than that to ship especially to the easy Coast! If you are a buyer on the East coast, especially, the shipping will cost will be Very High For Me!  If you are a buyer on the East coast, I can negotiate the asking price of these speakers a bit, but then the shipping costs will go up to the actual cost which will be $500 or more and that is FIRM!
Overall, Shipping on items such as Vintage Speakers usually takes a bit longer than ordinary equipment.  However, I will be able to ship them relatively quickly, but not too quickly or sloppily because my Shipping Motto is: Quick shipping is not Quality shipping. Typically, shipping will still take 3 business days. Please understand that I do not have my items pre-packed or pre-boxed. I am not Amazon, I am just a guy selling over 60 years of a family member's collection of vintage audio items! Ships from San Marcos California. Packed exceptionally WELL! "That the 604E can produce any high frequencies at all is down to the fact that it's a dual-coaxial driver—or, as Altec described it, a Duplex: each 604E comprises one 15" woofer and one horn-loaded compression driver with a 2.25" aluminum diaphragm, both with their own edge-wound voice-coils (copper for the woofer, aluminum for the compression driver) and hefty alnico magnets, and both with their own terminals for connection to the crossover network of choice (typically, the above-mentioned Altec N-1500-A, which crosses over at 1500Hz)."
