About This Listing

Catalyst Tigris

The Bass of the Catalyst collection.  Made from one piece of sound compound.

Seymour Duncan neck and fender custom shop bridge pickup. Badass bridge.
with soft case.

Soundcompound is a ceramic - graphite composite which is a man-made material designed to be as resonant and musical as possible - even more resonant than wood! It is injected in a liquid state and then hardens.
Soundcompound was developed to find an alternative for wood while not lose any tonal characteristics or even improve these.

Catalyst Instruments
Established in 1999 by Aristides (Arie) Poort after the discovery of Soundcompound in 1997 at Technical University Delft. Catalyst made several different styles of guitars (see my other listings). NXT, Panthera, Jakkerman, Lynx, Tigris. Catalyst went bankrupt in 2003/2004. In 2007 a group of enthusiast started Aristides instruments where the Soundcompound material was further developed and called Arium.
