The Nakamichi IA-1, released in Japan in 1993, is a superb high-fidelity integrated amplifier. The IA-1 has an RMS power of 80 W per channel (8 ohms) with an impressively low level of total harmonic distortion (<0.01% THD 20 Hz - 20 kHz). The IA-1 features Nakamichi’s renowned original Harmonic Time Alignment (HTA) circuit technology in both the preamplifier and power amplifier. The HTA circuit addresses time lag between music signals and distortion components caused by NFB by keeping the NFB amount constant throughout the audio band via a wideband, low gain, open loop design, while suppressing the NFB itself. This accurately and appropriately adjusts the phase relationship between music signals and distortion components over the entire audio band. As a result, the amp’s tone is significantly improved. The IA-1 is a sought-after unit, with fantastic specs, a great design, and outstanding sound. It follows in Nakamichi’s tradition of exceptional audio equipment with innovative engineering.
