You are looking at an extremely rare 12 string electric guitar made by Murph in 1966, and was the 799th guitar produced that year.  This model is called the Squire and it is in fantastic condition, especially considering it is over 50 years old.

These guitars have a cool story, they were extremely well made guitars, made in very small numbers by Pat Murphy in 1965 and 1966 (around 1200 made total.)  They feature dual truss rods and offset tuners (like a Rickenbacker) hand-would p90 pickups and a 2-way selector switch, hand-rubbed lacquer finish and a lacquered fretboard.  Murph brought a collection of these guitars to the NAMM show in 1966 and was all set for his breakout moment, until Rickenbacker and Fender took notice and filed cease and desist orders over the body shape (similar to Jazzmaster/Jaguar) and neck setup (dual truss rods, offset tuners, etc.)  This ultimately led to Murph going out of business in 1967.  However, they left behind some amazing guitars that tell a great story.

This one in particular is in fantastic shape, I've never actually seen one nicer.  It's a great player, but in my opinion is also clean enough to be a show/collector guitar, which is basically what I used it for.  It shows little wear.  The finish is still glossy and has developed some nice hazing, which I tried to capture in the pics.  There are two small paint chips, one on the upper bout and one on the lower bout, which I showed in pics.  I wanted to keep the guitar as original as possible and made no effort to conceal these.  Neck is straight and frets have plenty of life left in them.  All electronics work properly and cleanly, with no noise.  It has been setup by Ron Pace, a highly respected tech here in the Houston area, who addressed the intonation and playability issues that often plague these guitars by slightly adjusting the bridge placement. Plays awesome now.

Original case is in great condition and is a nice piece, but I wouldn't go out on the road with it.  I have owned this guitar for several years, and have played it less than 10 times.  It has always been stored in its case in my smoke-free home.
