About This Listing

Rustic Knotty Pine Offset Jazzcaster Telemaster w/ '91 MIM Neck + Quality New Parts: Fender, Allparts, Gotoh, CTS, Warmoth, Wilkinson, Sprague
Just completed rustic Pinecaster / Barncaster, with a nicely aged vintage 1991 MIM Strat neck, knotty pine body, and brand new unused high quality components:

• Vintage '91 MIM Stratocaster neck; 1st year Mexico production, naturally aged to a darker color (see photos), looks great and plays very well
• New reclaimed knotty pine fully contoured body by NoMoonLaser in Omaha; rustic finished in one thin spray of transparent amber nitrocellulose lacquer - matte low gloss, no rub or polish: this finish will "relic" easily and authentically, just from being played
• New Warmoth Jazzcaster black/white/black pickguard - so new that the protective film, with factory stickers, has not been removed yet
• New Fender Vintage Telecaster chrome bridge plate
• New Fender '62 Telecaster bridge pickup; staggered Alnico 5 magnets, cotton string wrapped and wax potted coil, 6.29K
• New Fender Tex Mex Telecaster neck pickup; Alnico 5 magnets, 6.26K, chrome cover; no excess wire on either pickup was cut - all PU wires full length
• New Wilkinson compensated brass Tele style saddles
• New Fender vintage style tuners
• Recent Fender Vintage Telecaster nickel round string guide
• Recent Stew-Mac aged nickel plated brass conversion tuner bushings
• New Allparts / Gotoh nickel through-body string ferrules
• New Fender chrome "F" logo neck plate
• New Fender chrome Telecaster control plate
• New Fender / Oak Grigsby 3-way switch w/ black barrel knob
• New Allparts / Gotoh nickel high-knurl dome knobs
• New CTS 250K volume and tone potentiometers
• Vintage 1950s new old stock Sprague Black Beauty .022uF tone capacitor
• New vintage style cloth wrap wire
• New Allparts Electrosocket output jack cup, w/ Switchcraft 1/4" jack
• New Fender chrome strap buttons
• All new mounting screws, either Fender or Philadelphia Luthier's Supply
• New GHS David Gilmour strings, .010 to .048 - the new strings were installed two days ago, w/ no playing since; another set was used for setup purposes. Also, yet another new set of GHS Gilmours will be included
• New good quality Gator bag, form fit for offset guitar

All of the parts indicated "New" above are really that: brand spankin' never before used new. Please note: the protective film on the brand new Warmoth pickguard has not been removed, in order to protect the 'guard while assembling this guitar - see photos for details.

Another labor of love build project from the Alley Gadget Shop, showcasing my all time favorite Strat neck, a 29 year old Fender MIM w/ a rosewood board, with a nicely slim low "C" profile: .80" (20.4mm) at 1st fret and .87" (22.0mm) at 12th fret. Rolled fingerboard edges, and GraphTech nut replacement.

Besides the neck, string guide, and tuner conversion bushings, all other parts are brand new, highest quality non-boutique components. Unique looks, super comfortable, and light weight - 7lb 2 oz (7.125 pounds = 3.23 kilograms). Hangs well on a strap, plays great and sounds amazing.

True vintage tone: 1950s to '60s Tele style wiring and controls - Oak 3-way switch, CTS volume and tone pots, and a real '50s USA Sprague tone capacitor. The pickups are both vintage spec, with the same magnetic polarity and coil winding direction - this means there isn't a modern out of phase humbucking ("noise cancelling") middle switch position, only full bodied, classic Fender single coil tone.

I've owned the 1991 Fender MIM Strat neck for almost 10 years, and played it, while assembled with a '95 Japan Fender '57 reissue body, a moderate amount in that time. I play mostly roots style music (country, blues, reggae, electric folk, '40s jumpin' jive, etc), and also back up singer- songwriters, and the very moderate fret wear reflects those styles: minor wear on the first couple frets from "cowboy chords", and hardly noticeable signs of playing throughout the rest of the fretboard - I tend to solo in all positions. Since I fret with a light touch, what wear there is, is not reflected in buzzing or flat notes.
