  WHO WAS EDWARD/EDDIE "FLAMENCO" FREEMAN? - (1909-1987)


Eddie Freeman was one of America's foremost flamenco artists and the inventor of the "Eddie Freeman Special 4-String Guitar" for the Selmer Music Company.
 
In his career he was a distinguished banjo, jazz, flamenco artist, luthier and a pioneer in flamenco music transcription.
 
As a builder Eddie Freeman handcrafted a very small number of premier master built instruments with legendary craftsmanship, playability, and sound comparable to Ramirez, Manuel Reyes, De La Chica, and other top luthiers.
 
Eddie Freeman developed eight different processes in his building techniques to increase the volume of his guitars.
 
Eddie Freeman had such an innovative approach and foresight he pre-stressed his soundboards and finished the inside of the body to resist deformation so they would not bow or warp as they aged.

This is the main reason why this guitar is in such superb condition and will be for many years to come because of Eddie Freeman's masterful craftsmanship.
