Up for consideration is one of my favorite basses – a 1966
Baldwin Burns Vibraslim in absolutely beautiful, almost new condition. As many
of you may know, Jim Burns has been called England’s version of Leo Fender. A
genius when it came to guitar design; less so as a business man. After a less
than successful union with Ampeg (which did produce the “Wild Dog” guitars),
Jim joined forces with Baldwin for a short period. The Vibraslim is one of the
great results of that union.
Aside from aa almost undetectable crack in the finish near the
pickup selector switch, the bass is in near perfect condition, sporting Burn’s
Rezo-Tube design bridge and pickups, including the adjustable mute (still in
working order). All of the controls work as they should. Both pickups have just recently been professionally rewound.
The action is low and super quick. This bass is a joy to play. I’ve
owned both a Gibson EB-2 and Fender Coronado II and IMHO the Vibraslim sounds
better and is easier to play. It comes
with the original case, also in excellent condition and includes the original
Baldwin product info, warranty info, original strap, case key. Even the case
neck strap is still there.
I’m downsizing my collection to make room for some recent
purchases (and to keep my Significant Other happy) so my loss is your gain.
This amazing bass needs a good home. Any overage on shipping cost will be
refunded. Please ask any questions you might have. Reasonable offers will be
considered.
