Brand new, beautiful left hand Manon model.
Welcome to the Classical-Workshop in beautiful Arizona. Thank you for taking time to look
at this excellent handcrafted Gypsy Jazz guitar from the workshop of Café
Américain.
This is their left-hand 2017 model Manon Bouche Ovale (oval mouth) guitar for the left-handed
player who wishes to play Gypsy Jazz. The workshop only makes a few left hand models at a time and we are very happy to bring these to our customers, a superb, a beautiful Gypsy Jazz guitar for the left handed player.
Gypsy Jazz evolved in Europe in the 1930s when French Django Reinhardt, playing
a Maccaferri/Selmer guitar in smoke-filled Paris clubs, combined his Gypsy
guitar playing style with the jazz of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington
producing a wonderful and inventive new form of music, Gypsy Jazz; also known
in France as Jazz Manouche.
Today Jazz Manouche is played worldwide, the tradition lives, and is enjoyed by
guitarists everywhere.
Café Américain is a small French workshop producing a few
hundred guitars a year, their guitars are well made, sound excellent, and
while for the professional musician they are easy to play.
This guitar is a full size 670 mm scale instrument, with a deep 4 inch body,
measuring 40.5 cm across the lower bout. It comes with the 23 and 2 half-fret
fretboard with a 14th fret neck-join at the body, this allows for both rhythm
and aggressive lead playing. It's O-mouth design is as the original
French Maccaferri-Selmer guitars.
Really slim neck, with a fast action, a driving sound, with a big cutting tone
you would expect from a Gypsy Jazz guitar. Beautiful looks and has the distinctive Gypsy Jazz sound for the player who wants to play
Swing or Jazz Manouche.
The soundboard is solid German Spruce, and the back and sides are beautiful
well-figured Indian Rosewood (which accounts for the excellent full rounded
traditional French tone.) Drive this guitar and you will get a great cutting sound or pull
back and it will respond with a mellow tone.
The fret-board, floating mustache-bridge, and fret-head are made of
Rosewood, and has a felt-padded brass tail-piece with a solid piece of Rosewood.
The guitar also comes with the
well padded, Café
Américain case shown in the pictures, plus I will include sheets of Gypsy
Jazz music both in TAB and standard notation.
A little about myself, I spend my summers in France, firstly attending
in Spring the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany, (Europe’s largest music
trade-show,) to meet guitar makers and see their instruments. Then I am
fortunate enough to travel Europe going to music festivals and guitar
workshops looking for guitars.
