I'm just going to go out on a limb and guess this is the first time you've stumbled upon an Alko bass. Well, me too! This one has Easter-Block written all over it as it is as funky as they come. A quick search seems to indicate it was built in Poland, most likely in the 1960's. It's fully hollow with a short 30" scale so the flat-wounds on it are a no-brainer. It does that warm-n-thumpy thing in spades. Floating Hofner-styled bridge. The neck is pretty chunky with a rounded off but still very SQUARE shape. Yep, square, but it's more comfortable than you'd ever imagine and you'll probably get used to it quite quickly. It's not going to compete with a modern bass but it's a good player. The pickguard has a couple of repaired cracks that are solid. Lots of these instruments had weird output jacks so it looks like the 1/4" is a retrofit you can just plug it in without hunting down a special cable. No doubt though that the main selling point are the amazing lines and design of this true relic. I'd play it. :)
