About This Listing

Up for sale is this very nice 1983 Fender Princeton Reverb II. Part of Fender’s “Rivera Era” amplifier redesign, these still overlooked amplifiers featured exceptionally high build quality and very nice tones.

By the early 1980s CBS-owned fender was hitting some pretty hard times. Overall quality control has gone downhill in the late 1970s, and Fender sought to turn that around. This led to a total rethink and re-organization of their guitar lineup. On the guitar end, you saw the birth of the “Fullerton reissue“ Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Bass guitars.

The amplifier lineup also saw some updates and changes. There was a return to the “blackface“ era cosmetics that the brand had become famous for. In addition to delivering the classic blackface “clean” tones, The redesigned circuit involved a number of additional push-pull pots accessing treble and mid boosts, as well as a second lead channel with higher gain.

This example looks the date from 1983 based on the transformer, reverb tank, and speaker codes. It sounds very nice and cosmetically is in very clean condition. No foot switch included.
