Heavily modded and rebuilt Mesa/Boogie D-180 bass amp.

12ax7 preamp section fully removed and replaced in favor of octal preamp and inverter tubes (tung sol and Sovtek)
The power section has been converted to 4-6550’s, putting out between 120-140 watts. There’s also an adjustable bias control.
The power tubes are a brand new matched quartet of JJ 6550’s.
As noted by my tech who recently went through the head:
“Whoever modded this knew what they were doing and the work is solid”.
The amp was cleaned, biased, new fan, fan switch and hi-lo speed resistor installed.
Effects loop (front) functionality has been restored so you can sub in your favorite preamp to switch things up.
Amp functions perfectly, internals are clean, there’s no scratchy pots. All mods were closely checked for function and necessity. The tech who did the work is one of the best in the area, in my opinion.

Mods include:
-single input/channel
-12ax7 preamp circuit replaced with octal preamp and phase inverter.
-dedicated tube sockets for new preamp circuit were installed, not cheap adaptors.
-Slave in/out deleted and capped
-rear effects loop deleted/capped
-ch2 deleted and capped
-push/pull controls deleted
-front effects loop functionality restored, could be rerouted to rear jacks easily if desired.
Amp professionally serviced by AzTech electronics, (factory authorized Mesa/Boogie repair shop) Aug 2020, receipt included.

All mods work properly as designed. The amp sounds really nice, very warm, very loud, sounds great through the range of volume and tonal capabilities. No scratchy pots, hissing or popping.
*As this amp is vintage and has been modded, I’m not accepting returns*
Will ship in an ugly but functional rack case with tubes removed and wrappe
d for protection. Case will be bubble wrapped inside and out, and sturdily boxed. I take safe shipping very seriously. Reverb buyer protection will be included.

I’ve been asked several times what the mods accomplished and what the amp sounds like.

Of all the amps I’ve owned, I’d compare it to a fender bassman 135 or perhaps a more modern sounding (especially in the mids) Sunn model T. It’ll get loud and stay clean for pedals, but it can get dirty on its own as well.
I’ve never owned another Mesa bass amp, so unfortunately I can’t do a direct comparison.
Feel free to make offers, worst I could do is say no
