2008 Fender Jaguar Bass Hot Rod Red Active Jazz Bass Japan CIJ w/ Gigbag

Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Jaguar Bass in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. From the introductory run of this model, this Crafted in Japan bass has been discontinued and is seen here in custom color Hot Rod Red with matching headstock! Designed as a souped up and more versatile take on Fender's classic Jazz Bass model, the Jaguar bass retains the same single coil pickups as its predecessor, with a bevy of new tone shaping options. Defined and round sounding, the Jaguar Bass has plenty of midrange cut and burp in the bridge position, with more girth and thickness from the neck single coil. A two-way toggle on the hexagonal control plate can engage both pickups in series for extra punch, and the controls on the lower bout engage a separate active circuit with its own tone controls driven by a 9V battery! The bass weighs in at 9lbs on the dot and balances well on a strap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Jaguar Bass is strung with 45-100 roundwound strings and dialed in for comfortable action and solid intonation.

The neck adheres to traditional Jazz Bass specifications, featuring a medium C shaped profile, 1 1/2" nut width, and full 25 1/2" scale. There's even some subtle flame figuring in the gloss finished maple running the length of the profile and across the back of the headstock as well! The thick slab rosewood fretboard features pearl block inlays and medium jumbo fretwire which shows only very faint wear on the crowns of frets 1-3 beneath the A and D strings, and virtually no wear up the neck. The truss rod is responsive, the neck is arrow straight with ideal relief, and the bass plays cleanly in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots. On the Hot Rod Red matching headstock, the bass boasts full size vintage-style chrome tuning machines with clover buttons. These tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

The electronics all work as they should, with gleaming chrome control plates and a pair of push-on Jazz Bass-style knobs for Master Volume and Tone. Other vintage tinged specs include spiral bridge saddles and a lightly aged white pickguard. Cosmetically, there's very little wear to report, with only a few extremely faint finish scratches and tiny nicks on the instrument as a whole and no serious wear of any kind!

Easily the coolest and one of the most well crafted and visually appealing Jaguar Bass models to date, this first run model is ready for stage and studio use.
