This guitar was shown at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Trade Show 2019 held in Anaheim, California; the second largest music products trade show in the world. For this reason it may have minor blemishes. Please see pictures. (We have found a thin crack just to the right of the neck, and parallel to it. See closeup picture. Please note that the dots within and white shine on the edges of the black area are just reflections, and that the straight line in the black is a manufacturing artifact that is visible on all Overstep models when you look at them very closely)
Merida named this guitar the Overstep because in making it they did just that: This unique boutique acoustic-electric guitar features an OM cutaway acoustic guitar body with a classical guitar neck and strings! It has a solid engelman spruce top with ovangkol back and sides. Ovangkol is an exotic wood that has the depth of rosewood, but with better “snap” generally associated with medium density woods such as koa.
A unique guitar deserves a unique design on it, and the Overstep has it. Blue stain detail was added to the design around the sound hole to make it even more unique.
The result is a beautiful classical guitar with a uniquely modern look and feel; a truly beautiful sounding and enjoyable guitar to play!
The overall length comes in at 40". The top is AA rated solid engelmann spruce, with beautiful flamed ovangkol back and sides. The mahogany classical guitar neck features a ebony fingerboard with premium tuners and a cow bone nut and saddle. A Fishman PSY301-EQ pickup is pre-installed.
