1999 MIM Strat I purchased this guitar from GuitarCenter in 1999. It has always played and sounded good but of course I had to go into it and upgrade everything! The body and neck are original to the guitar and MIM. The upgrades I did on the neck included Fender polished chrome locking tuners and a new bone nut. The body is now lined with copper shielding. Schaller Strap locks are included. The pickups were replaced with Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Pickups! The Texas Special pickups will give you that “Texas blues” sound with lots of midrange“chirp” and crystal highs, along with increased output over stock Strat pickups. The Texas Special set is overwound with Alnico 5 magnets and enamel coated wire. The middle pickup is reverse wound for reverse polarity to cancel hum in positions 2 & 4. The electronics have been upgraded with Emerson Custom S5-B-250K Strat 5-Way Blender Pre-Wired Kit (250K Ohm Pots & 0.047uf Capacitor). Emerson's prewired kits are very popular... and for good reason; They improve your tone! They take great pride in using premium components that work and sound betterthan stock electronics found in your guitar. Emerson pots are hand metered and matched for great consistency and even taper on both the volume and tone knob (better control when rolling down the volume knob... no more mud) Their Emerson Paper in Oil capacitors sound amazing! Paper in Oil capacitors were used in vintage Fender guitars for good reason... They sound amazing. These kits are painstaking wired by hand one at a time in Broken Arrow Oklahoma, USA. They take great pride in their solder work and neatness when they craft their prewired kits. Emerson builds their kits to last a very long time and perform great.The Blender wiring has 1 volume, 1 master tone, and a Blender pot. In the neck position you can blend the bridge pickup in as much as you want. In the bridge position you can blend the neck pickup in as much as you want. In positions 2 and 4 you can have all three pickups on at once. The guitar sports a new White Pearl pickguard, Chrome Allparts pickup covers and Q-Parts Mother of Pearl on chrome knobs. There is a fabulous high quality,custom made Tremolo Cover with an image of a Pin Up Girl Printed onto a highgloss extremely durable pickguard material. This image is embedded into the cover with Pro Photo imaging technology and will never wear off. This is a smooth playing guitar. The guitar has been professionally set up with the lowest action, correct intonation and Dunlop, Billy Gibbons String Lab Series 07/38 light gauge strings. The guitar comes with a black premium model hardshell case with gold plush interior.
In 1998 Fender began its first major production change to the Standard Stratocaster series, switching from a Vintage Tremolo tailpiece to “Standard Hardware”.
