Allen Amplifictation - Rare 80watt Blackface Twin Reverb Head- Tone Savor

Allen Amplification's Tone Savor:

This is a hand built, single channel, 80 watt Twin Reverb inspired amp, done up in a beautiful hand made head shell.

Allen Amplification has a reputation for designing some of the best modern renditions of Classic Fender style amps, and this one is no exception. It is similar to the current Allen models Accomplice and Encore, but with an 80 watt output section. Sounds like a great classic BlackFace Twin Reverb.

These amps are quite uncommon and only rarely come up for sale.

Very similar to a classic BF Twin Reverb circuit, with the typical Allen Amplification mods: 

  -A great transparent Master Volume control
  - Raw control which dials in a variable boost to the mids and increases overall gain.
  -Switchable from 80 watts to 40 (basically turns it from a Twin into a Super or Pro Reverb)
  -Dwell and Tone control knobs to further tweak the Reverb sound.
  -Select from 4 or 8 ohm output taps. (Sounds great with many different speakers/cabs)
  -Externally accessible Bias Test points and adjustment potentiometer .

Its a quality build, with plenty of choice components including various Sprague, Mallory, and carbon comps in the right places, and high quality transformers. Well laid out and cleanly built.

I built the head cabinet/shell with the goal of keeping the amp light and relatively compact. The aluminum chassis and naked Pine cab help keep the weight down to a very manageable 31 lbs. 

Its a home-made head cabinet with some imperfections/tooling marks. Please look closely at the pictures. Finish is thin satin polyurethane.

The reverb tank is mounted/recessed into the bottom underside of the head shell in order to allow for clearance between the tank and transformers, while retaining a smaller size.  There is a sheet metal cover over the open side of the reverb tank.

The Wicker front grille adds a classy touch and everyone loves to see the glowing tubes visible through the front when set up on a dark stage or room.

Amp is currently running 4x matched Ruby Tubes 6l6gc's and a mix of JJ and EH preamp tubes.

Condition is very good aside from a few minor wear marks. No funky odors.

Will be double boxed and well padded for shipment.
