"Spotlight: No. 179 Short Scale Solidbody

After 17 years of building guitars, I've finally learned to keep my grubby little mitts off of my new ones. Now, after I wire them up and do the initial setup, I box them up and put them away to keep them nice and new for the buyer. Otherwise, I'd be all over this little beast. Why, it'd be in shreds by now. Practically a Relic!

Rarely for a TG-250 model, no.179 sports the fast and ferocious 24 3/4 inch scale. All but a few have had the more stately 25 1/2 inch scales. The difference is pretty noticeable to a lead player. Not only are the frets closer together, but the strings require less tension to get up to pitch... bending is a breeze, and you can go crazy with vibrato. By the fourth set, these can be very welcome features on a guitar - especially if you're a Johnny Winter fan.
Even more rare is this guitar's solid body. I haven't made a solidbody since the last century! And this is the first solid TG-250 ever. There is hardly any weight penalty because I used basswood in the core which is not only light in weight, but also has great tone.

There's really not a bad angle on this guitar. Practically every square inch is dancing with curly maple - front and back. The neck, too. Simply mesmerizing under stage lights.
And, speaking of angles... no.179 has them in all the right places. The headstock is tilted about 13 degrees which puts plenty of downward pressure on the nut which adds to the overall resonance, and it helps you stay in tune as you bend strings up to your chin.
Also, the glued in setneck is angled away from the body by about 2 1/4 degrees, which leads to a steeper break angle off the bridge... also for improved resonance.

Again,  provides the horsepower. After many dozens of guitars, I still find the SH-2 "Jazz" (neck) and the SH-4 "JB" (bridge) to be simply magical. Both are tapped for singlecoil or full humbucker operation. From twangy jangle to fatty beef at the flick of a switch. Clean when you need clean, and just the right amout of dirt when you crank them up. And, like my guitars, Seymour Duncan pickups are handmade in California!"
