1989 Boss CE-2B Bass Chorus Effects Pedal Green Label Japan w/ Mod

Up for sale, a 1989 Boss CE-2B Bass Chorus effects pedal in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Introduced in the late 80s, with production moving to Taiwan in late 1989, this CE-2B is among the very last of the original Japanese production examples. The Boss CE-2B is a chorus effect based on the rare MN3007 BBD circuit. Initially geared towards bass instruments, the CE-2B maintains a full and pristine low end while the swishy effects are applied to the mid and upper range harmonics of the signal. Already perfectly suited for guitar and keys alike, this particular CE-2B has been modified with a toggle switch to cater even more precisely towards Guitar and Bass, offering a bit more midrange focus and cut while in the Guitar position.

Cosmetically, there are chips and scuffs on the enclosure, while the majority of the silkscreen graphics remain intact. The original trio of knobs are present, and the Made in Japan green foil label is intact on the back of the enclosure, with the serial dating the pedal to October, 1989.

This early Boss pedal is an ACA adapter version, requiring 12V operation when powered, or a 9V battery (not included).
