Serial # 160 is a 1996 Monteleone Eclipse Special featuring a beautiful violin finish and exceptional spruce and curly maple tone woods.  This instrument was purchased in 1998 by the late Robert James Waller, author of The Bridges of Madison County and numerous other novels.  Robert was particularly fond of this guitar and named it "Sugar" because of its sweet sound and its beauty.  The guitar is in near-mint original condition with no issues, and has a suspended pickup that really brings out its exceptional acoustic qualities.  The guitar is 17" wide at the lower bout, 1.75" wide at the nut, 2-7/8" at the rim, and has a 25.5" scale.  It has a rich, full sound and is exceptionally comfortable and easy to play.  Robert ordered a new Calton case for this guitar so he could travel with it and entertain his friends and admirers.  This is a superb example of John's classic design of his first archtop model.  Please contact Tom Van Hoose for further information.
