Player's Perspective

This Starfire is a testament to the fact that Guild has been perfecting the thin hollow body design for generations. The sounds you can get out of this guitar are perfect for the rocker who's looking for something other than the same solid body design everyone's used for years. Play this guitar through a clean amp setting, roll the tone back and you've got a perfect jazz box. Add a touch of grit, and the guitar thickens up into a snarling blues machine. The neck on this guitar is big and round without being so large that it slows you down. The body style is comfortable and you'll appreciate the light weight after your next multi-hour practice session or gig. This is a great hollow body from a company that's been dialing in the design for years.

Manufacturer's Description

This marks the welcome return of a highly popular semi-hollow Guild classic, with a graceful double-cutaway thinline body and incomparable tone and feel. The original Starfire IV was prized by many guitarists from the mid-1960s onward as a distinctively rocking instrument, and its spirit and design pervade this new model. Other premium features include a rock-solid three-piece neck, special vintage-style LB-1 “Little Bucker” pickups and the classically brilliant Cherry Red. The Guild LB-1 "Little Bucker" was first offered in 1962 as an upgrade from single coil pickups. Tonally, it has a little more jangle than a traditional PAF humbucker. The resistance and inductance of these pickups sit comfortably between a typical single coil and typical humbucker - contributing to the airy nature of the LB-1 without compromising its warmth. The LB-1 has a unique footprint, placing it in-between a mini-bucker and a full size humbucker.
