This fantastic and rare Advanced Jumbo was built in Gibson’s Bozeman Custom Shop under supervision of Luthier Ren Ferguson in 2006. With its deeply figured Cocobolo back and sides in combination with an Adirondack (red) Spruce top, this Advanced Jumbo is a very open, crisp and powerful sounding instrument with matching impressive looks. This is the re-creation of the original AJ from the 1930s. Only some 300 of these originals where made back in the day, and having sold two of those we can testify to the authentic sound of this specific instrument. However, this particular AJ sounds maybe a little warmer, a typical trait for cocobolo.
This guitar features features '30s-style vintage bridge, mahogany neck with bound rosewood fretboard, unoriginal solid wood trussrod cover, inlaid mother-of-pearl arrows, and Gibson logo, vintage firestripe pickguard and open geared Waverly tuners. The instrument is in excellent condition with some two dings on the top, light pickwear, angelhair signs of use on the back. The bridge has been re-glued which was done neatly. Overall a very clean and maturely sounding sonically well-developed guitar. Includes original hardshell case.
