Tokai Hummingbird 1968 navy.
Here is a Tokai Hummingbird for your consideration. This is an original hummingbird from the late 60s, and not one of the recent reissues.
When I first got this guitar the wiring was a total mess. The shielding had corroded and fallen off the cables, and the switch was broken. My tech took the guitar and completely rewired it with vintage Gibson style cloth covered wire. The switch and rollers on the upper half of the guitar are disconnected (as the switch was broken). So basically it's the 3 way pickup selector, volume and tone knob, and all working great like a new guitar.
The neck is straight, and the guitar is great for rhythm, but when playing lead there are a few bum notes further up the fretboard. The guitar could ideally do with a fret levelling or better still a refret. I'm leaving that for the next owner to decide upon.
Other than that the guitar is in cosmetically good shape with no neck or body repairs, and no major damage. The price I'm asking is cheaper than the Japanese reissue, and close to that of the Korean made reissue.
I do not have a case for this guitar. It will be packed and boxed with great care.
I take pride in giving accurate descriptions of my items for sale. Please ask questions, if you are unsure of anything. I want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase (I don't want to deal with a return as much as you don't).
The guitar will be boxed and sent via Japan Post EMS (expedited shipping with tracking).
Please note that due to the situation with Covid-19, shipping to several countries (USA included) is currently suspended. I can hold the guitar upon purchase if required. If you want to check your country please send me a message.
If you require shipping to USA and don't mind waiting, I can ship by surface (involves removing the neck, and boxing the neck and body separately with a ton of bubblewrap, then putting both boxes into another box). The postage would cost approximately $75 (with tracking and insurance up to $800. Japan Post surface shipping services to US are currently running. The guitar would probably arrive before EMS services to US are resumed, and you save almost $100 on postage.
Thank you!
