Gretsch 6119 Chet Atkins Tennessean

  • I have more than twice as many photos available of this guitar beyond the 25 allowable in the listing, so please "message" me here on Reverb if you'd like to see even more.
  • Made in the U.S. in February of 1967
  • Walnut Finish
  • All Original except for the nice upgrade to vintage Gibson Deluxe Tuners
  • Two Gretsch Hilo'Tron single coil pickups--these pickups were developed in 1958 by Gretsch to replace the DeArmond Dynasonics previously used on Gretsch guitars
  • "Gretsch by Bigsby" vibrato bar
  • Switch descriptions:
    • the rear switch is a master on/off switch ("middle" position is on, "up or down" positions are off
    • the front switch (nearest the strap button) is a standard 3-way pickup selector (neck, neck/bridge, bridge)
    • the next switch back is a "tone-shaping" switch--a 3-way switch that cuts highs or volume when engaged in the up or down position.
  • It's just been restrung with brand new .010s & had a complete professional set-up: frets polished, fretboard cleaned & oiled, pickup heights adjusted, pickup pole pieces adjusted, intonation set (nearly perfect despite the non-adjustable bar-style bridge), etc.
  • It's set up with very low action (lower than my own tastes at least) but it still has tons of room to go further either way, higher or lower (see close-ups of the bridge).
  • This guitar plays, feels, & sounds absolutely fantastic!
  • All electronics work perfectly--not even a scratchy pot here.  :)
  • The frets have plenty of life left on them despite this being a 53 year old guitar (see close-up photos).
  • Cosmetically it's in stunningly beautiful vintage condition, especially  being a 53 year old instrument (please see all photos for accurate condition and also please "message" me here on Reverb if you'd like even more photos of the guitar).
  • The body binding is perfect all the way around, but this does have the usual binding shrinkage at the neck heel as well as along sections of the neck--specifically above the 13th fret on the top side & below the 7th fret on the bottom side (please see photos). There are no missing or "falling off" sections, but one tiny half-fret-length piece looks to be a replacement binding piece at the 21st fret on the top side of the neck (again, please see photos).
  • Comes in its original Gretsch hard shell case as shown in the photos--all latches & hinges work perfectly; the interior is in excellent condition; the exterior is cosmetically only in fair condition (see photos).

I'm happy to ship to any international location, so if you are buying from outside of the contiguous United States, just contact me for a shipping estimate to your location. :)

Please look carefully at all of the photos and feel free to contact me with any questions before buying.  In addition to my 100% 5-star feedback rating here on reverb.com, I also have a 20+ year, 100% positive feedback rating on eBay (from well over 1000 ratings--user name "scedro").

Note:
The set-up on any guitar is subjective & a matter of personal taste, which of course varies for every player. While each instrument I sell is professionally set-up prior to being listed on Reverb, that set-up may not be exactly to your particular taste "right out of the box" & (as with any instrument that you buy anywhere) you should expect to possibly make adjustments to the action, string gauges, etc. to suit your exact tastes.
