40-50'S KAY / AIRLINE VENETIAN ARCHTOP & BACK K70 MANDOLIN w CASE
This is a listing for a Vintage Kay K-70 Venetian Style Mandolin. Back in the days Kay would make musical instruments for Montgomery Wards like Harmony would do for Sears & Roebuck. When they did they were called Airline; ergo the label on the headstock.
This 8 string wonder was created for Wards to give you the mandolin that was best suited for your playing needs back in the 40's. I don't know if it from the 40's or 50's because I cant find out when they went from a 2-part F-hole to a single. If you know please email us so we can let everyone know!
The action right now on the mandolin is low and fast with no buzzing.
Features:
• Body Style: Venetian
• Top: Arched Spruce - Rope Style Binding
• Back and Sides: Arched Maple - White Binding
• Neck: Mahogany
• Tuners: Kluson Deluxe
• Markers: Pearl block
• Fretboard: Bound Rosewood
• No. of Frets: 14-20
• Scale Length: 14"
• Pickguard: Ornate thick Single ply
• Neck Width @ Nut: 1 1/16"
• Finish: Vintage Sunburst
This guitar appears to be in excellent cosmetic condition, as you can see in the pictures.
We decided that that any set-up should be left up to the new owner because action not unlike string gauge is a personal thing. The original saddle and the nut are in great condition. Please look at the pictures for the condition of the mandolin.
The original chipboard case is included! The handle is loose but we're working on it.
Comes as you see it in the pictures.
