Very rare first year of production 1966 Mosrite "Joe Maphis" double neck 12/6. The unusual configuration of four knobs(two volume, two tone) which I haven't come across before, the two color sunburst instead of the common three color sunburst, Joe Maphis Model on the 12 string headstock instead of the 6 string headstock, the side jack instead of the top jack, and the serial number beginning with "SP" lead me to believe this is a custom "Special" one off version of this guitar(Semie Mosley was renowned for his custom one offs). I bought this from the original owner(who's name is on the pickgaurd) and its in very good condition.

This is a fine example of Semie Mosley's creative genius and adventurous design spirit. The only issues I have found are some buckle wear on the back that was previously covered with a patch of green felt. I removed the felt and the finish is good except for the wear noted and pictured. There are also a fews nicks and dings here and there on the guitar from a long life of thrilling thousands of fans in the greater Los Angeles area over the past fifty years. The only other issue I've noted is the bridge pick up on the 12 string side is loose, but I will be addressing that this week.

This guitar drips mojo and coolness with a very nice tone and playability that Mosrite's are known for.

Comes with OHSC.

*CITES

This instrument has a rosewood fretboard, which causes it to fall under the new CITES regulations that went into effect in January of this year. If you are not familiar, it is a very troublesome new law, and one that tremendously slows down the import/export trade. To simplify, as a seller, I have to apply for an export certificate on each item I sell/ship internationally that contains any type of Rosewood.. This is to be done AFTER the sell is complete and there is a $75 USD charge for the certificate, and a 6-8 week processing period.

I have already applied for a "Master File" which allows me to bypass the 6-8 week processing period, and have my certificates available pre-sell. However, I have not received them as of yet, and expect to in the next few weeks.

If I as the seller ship without this certificate, I can be fined substantially, and the instrument can be confiscated by customs in the receiving country.

Be careful with Sellers who offer to ship without this certificate as you could lose your money, and guitar if it is confiscated.

It is a big hassle I know, but this is the only option I have as a seller currently.
