Up for sale, a 1959 Supro Belmont model 1570 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With a peanut body, uncommon maroon pearloid finish, and gold hardware, the Belmont is as visually striking as it is tonally rich and dynamic. The oversized single coil pickup is powered by a large ceramic magnet, and the tone is quintessential Supro, with power, bark, and glassy shimmer when strummed with a pick. It doesn't get any simpler than a single bridge pickup with Volume and Tone knobs, yet the Belmont makes the most of this basic layout and rolling off the tone knob gives you some very warm jazzy tones that are still defined and focused. There's plenty of twang and grit to be had too, and with the right small tube amp or overdrive pedal, this guitar can sizzle and snap with the best of them. The guitar is particularly easy on the back as well at a featherweight 6lbs 0oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this Supro Belmont is a rare and well kept model.

The neck has a deep V profile that has plenty of chunk and heft without feeling harsh or overwhelming. Just a nice handful that's easy to chord, with a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 5/8" nut width. The original slender frets are intact, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4, with sparingly little fretwear further up the neck. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions with no buzzing or dead spots, and the 20 fret Brazilian rosewood board features pearl dot inlays. On the headstock, the original gold Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines are intact, along with the original gold Supro badge and tacked in serial number plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, with original Stackpole pots that date to 1958, while the serial number conclusively dates the instrument to early '59. The wiring is untouched and all solder joints are original. The stock hardware is all intact, including the dyed maple lightning bolt bridge with original gold feet, trapeze tailpiece, witch hat knobs, and pickguard. Of particular note is the incredible condition of the pickguard, which retains almost all of the original black pinstriping and text, aside from a very small portion in the pick path. One of the most obvious signs of limited playwear and excellent condition on a vintage Supro, this silkscreened pinstriping tends to wear away quickly and models with graphics this bold and intact are rare.

While the neck is finished in original black nitro lacquer, the finish on the body (also original) is more like a vacuformed thin wrap, and has a dynamic crushed pearl appearance that's more glossy than a typical lacquer finish of this era. Completely original and in great shape, the body finish shows some chipping along the back lower bout edge near the rear strap button, and there are also a couple slender finish-only cracks at the bass side waist of the body, but no serious wear at all! The neck has finish wear along the top edge of the headstock and central to the V profile, and the gold hardware shows moderate oxidation and surface wear, particularly on the tailpiece. There was also a small triangular sticker central to the headstock face which was removed and the area below it touched up with black nitro lacquer for a clean look. This of course is purely aesthetic and the guitar is structurally sound, crack free, and professionally setup.
