For your consideration we have a unique forgotten gem, a Noble guitar built in Korea, most likely the late 60’s to early 70's based on available data. There is no serial number or model information, but it appears to match the EG680-2RG models occasionally seen elsewhere. We had the instrument given a full set-up at world famous Eric’s Guitar Shop in Los Angeles. It had the frets deoxidized and the fretboard cleaned and conditioned, along with adjustments to optimize intonation, action, and relief. The truss rod was adjusted and the action set to 5/64 at the 12th fret. Finally, it was carefully detailed and given a fresh set of 10-46 D’Addario strings before final tests were performed for playability. Just tune it up and you’re good to go!
The Noble weighs in at 5.68 lbs. The attractive finish resembles rosewood. Pearloid bow tie inlays are nice and tight. Interior wood is dry and fresh-smelling. Superb dreamy, chimey sound from the pickups. Everything looks to be original here, down to the wiring. Both of the original (and very unique looking) volume knobs and 1 of the 2 tone knows is included (the other is missing), but all four have been removed in favor of a matching set, which are the style similar to those seen on a Gibson. We have included many images so that you can inspect the hardware and surfaces from different angles.
The instrument has sustained very little damage over the years. The finish is remarkably smooth and free of all but the very, very fine polishing scratches. No buckle rash, just gloss and more gloss. There is a dime-sized spot of finish missing on the neck. The frets are good, with a few of the top frets showing some shallow notches. The tremolo bar system is complete but a bit loose at the head screw causing it to flail down with no resistance, but you can tighten the screw so that it stays in place. Adjusting the bar position will eventually loosen the screw again, however. We did not want to overtighten it but doing so may simply resolve the issue if rotating the bar is not necessary. On very close inspection we found a fracture line between the wood layers coming together on the upper bow, along the left horn, about 2 inches in length. This can only be seen on close inspection and does not appear to be anything more than a cosmetic blemish. These issues stand out for the most part because of how fantastic it looks overall. It really is incredible to see it so well-kept after all these years.
A very unique find in rare high-grade condition for its age and ready to play without issues. Please contact us with any questions, and thanks for checking out our listings. See our store for more rare guitars!
