This is a SUPER RARE ONE . . . 1967 Gretsch Model 6117 'CUSTOM CAT'S-EYE' hollow body electric guitar - all original parts and electronics - professional black refin, serial number 117964 - built in November, 1967 - will ship with non original hardshell case. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A DOUBLE ANNIVERSARY MODEL 6117 - The 6117 'Cat's-Eye' was only produced from 1964-1967, and never even appeared in the Gretsch Catalog. This is truly a bizarre model - and very very rare as a result. The refin is a really good job, totally professional. This Cat's-Eye features truly hollow design, twin Hi-Lo'Tron pickups, Grover Sta-Tite tuners, and standard G style switching. It's a total mystery why Gretsch used the same model number as the Double Anniversary, and it's not readily known just how many of these Cat's-Eye models were within that 3 year period - but it's certainly the first one we've ever seen. Condition-wise, the gloss black finish is really nice - looks excellent and super classy - in fact, this model was only available in opaque red or black. She is also super super light weight: 6 pounds 5 ounces. As was the case with most of these, there is no label on the inside of the Cat's-Eye hole. Not only will rockabilly players love this thing - but she also offers up the kind of sound that made that Jimmy Wilsey/Isaak sound so beautiful - really moody but bright and clear sounds. There are some songs in this thing. More photos are available - please feel free to call 859-261-5500 for an in hand description. Super cool - and VERY VERY RARE - thanks!
