About This Listing

Vintage 1954 Gibson J45. This is a great iconic American guitar, in good player grade condition. The 1954 model is the last year for the small pickguard, and the last year for scalloped braces. Nut width is 1 11/16, the neck is a very typical Gibson full C shape. The action is good, there are no cracks to speak of. There are some issues - nothing stopping this from being a perfectly playable guitar, but there nonetheless. At some point the neck angle must have slipped, as the bridge has been shaved down. My guess is that sometime later the neck was re-set, now the bridge is low. The saddle is tall, it works as is, but a correct bridge would be good. I have a replacement bridge ready to go on. There is a patch on the bridge plate, it looks like it's been there a long time. The finish on the top is funky. I think it's original, but ?? ...The pictures can speak for themselves on this. I have included a picture of the endblock showing the FON, but it is very faint. My thought was to have the bridge and bridge plate replaced, and have the top refinished at the same time. But I've since decided to sell it, as my smaller guitars seem to get all the playing time. It comes with a good hard shell case.
