1972 ES345TD Stereo Varitone
Serial
Number: 675724
UPDATE: Had an offer on this guitar. The buyer spotted what they suspected was a crack in the headstock. I took it to a luthier, and he expertly repaired the crack. He said, "The
crack was not caused by any kind of abuse. The wood just dried out and
popped. I would not classify the wood as 'defective' either. It's an
organic substance and therefore unpredictable to a certain degree. I would classify this as a minor repair since the damage has not gone all the way through the headstock veneer."
I reveal this as I wish to be totally honest about the instruments condition.
Great
example of this instrument. In very good condition considering her
48 years! Of course it has some stage wear, see photos. It has
those flat/wide speed frets and is an excellent player. The
variotone works as designed, it and all pots as far as I can tell are
original. I bought this guitar in 2005, and though I love it, have
not played it a great deal.
Comes
with a stereo-to-mono adapter. I do not have the original Gibson
stereo cord.
Comes
with a period case, but not the original case. Has “White Star”
stenciled on it ( see photos ).
