This is a beautiful guitar from a long-time luthier and wood worker. The woods used in it are top quality. There are no laminates used. The top is Carpathian spruce and the back and sides are Brazilian rosewood. The beautiful texture of snakewood wraps around the edges as the binding. Matching ebony is used for the bridge and fretboard. The rosette and headstock are elegant amboyna burl.

These woods pair for a wonderful tonal composition that is warm, bright and delicate. Nothing matches the sound of Brazilian rosewood. The body is small at a 13" lower bout. As such it can't be pushed as hard as a larger body. The action is set low at the first fret, so the guitar wants to be played with a light touch. We can raise the action upon request, or you can do it yourself with our user adjustable cantilever neck. From the heel of the neck a provided hex key can be inserted, and the break angle of the neck will change and lower or raise the action up the fretboard.  Upon purchase please tell us your preference for the string height at the 12th fret.

There is excellent intonation due to the unique to Portland Guitar split saddle bridge. Instead of a one-piece saddle ours is split into six pieces. This allows for the compensation to be set individually at each string. By applying some pressure, the saddles can be moved back and forth to change it. We set up the guitar with correct intonation when shipped.

The neck is not thick it is of medium thickness with a slightly rounded C to D shape neck. It tapers slightly as it gets closer to the body. This guitar is in used condition, there is a scratch on the back so it is sold as described. It was not played much and mainly sat around the shop. It ships with a black hard-shell case. Please reach out to me with any questions.
