About This Listing

I bought this guitar a few years ago with the intention of having it restored. Since then, it’s gone through two rounds of work.

The first big chunk of work was done in 2018 by James Ralston (Roadtoast Guitars). He installed a new adjustable titanium truss rod, replaced and refretted the fretboard, reset the neck, and replaced the bridge. He got the guitar playing phenomenally well. The neck was and is extremely fast and very low profile. However, I felt like for the size of the guitar, it was lacking in volume and punch.

Fast forward to earlier this year, I sent the Kay up to Jake Wildwood. I’ve picked up a few instruments from him over the past year and his work is absolutely incredible. He pulled out the old clunky ladder bracing and replaced it with brand new Bohmann-style double X-bracing. Now, the guitar does exactly what I wanted it to do. It’s an absolute cannon. The new bracing also pulls out a lot of the low end it was lacking before. He also popped in a new K&K pure mini and added a vintage strap button.

I’m not in a hurry to sell, but I’m looking to thin out my collection a bit, I’m more comfortable playing a 000 and find that I’m just not playing it as much as I’d like.

Thanks for looking and please let me know if I can answer any questions!
