About This Listing

This 1976 Ibanez 2464 “Byrdland” can hold its own next to any old Gibson – super high quality build with beauty & tone. It is as close to a Gibson as it gets. Knobs may not be original but certainly the correct period type. A rare one from early 1976 (F76XXXX) and even a rarer find with the Gibson-style headstock (which makes it a true "Pre-Lawsuit).

Body:  Hollow body with a spruce top & maple back & sides. The back has a beautiful flame & the guitar has binding on the top, back & the f-holes.

Neck: slim, fully bound maple neck with a beautiful ebony fingerboard & block pearloid inlays. This instrument has a 24.75” scale length.

Pickups/Hardware:  2 “Super 70’s” humbucker pickups, 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs and a three-way selector switch. Gold hardware. PUP covers were gold but are tarnished.

Cosmetics:  This Ibanez is in really good shape at 45 years old however there was a repair (photos) near the body and neck joint and difficult to capture. The neck was re-adjusted into position and they did an excellent job of it. It does have a few small dings and I have tried to capture those as well. Lacquer checking on the front (photos). The back of the body and neck are immaculate. Overall this guitar is in great condition but it does show normal wear that is consistent with a guitar from the mid 1970’s.

Playability:  One word – Awesome. This jazz box has a wonderful feel to it – low action – the frets show some wear but they have a lot of life left in them. The PUPS are bright sounding but I play it through a Headrush so I can pretty much make it sound like anything.

Weight: 7 lbs,  8 oz.

I don't have a case for it but comes in a soft carrier case. A few hardshell cases for the Epiphone Elitist Byrdland are on-line that would accommodate this guitar.
