For sale here is one of the many variations of this classic American-Made acoustic guitar, the Harmony / Silvertone H-615. I always liked these because "615" is the area code for Nashville! ð€
This one has pretty low action given it's age and play like butter! Not modern guitar low, but super comfortable to play! (Pic of action included)
This one is special because it is my first collaboration (hopefully of many) with artist Michael Bond. Michael is incredibly talented, and I am very lucky to have met him. He purchased an electrified parlor guitar from me, and we got to talking about collaborating, and together we came up with the idea to do an homage series to the gods of Blues Guitar, and there was really no better place to start than Robert Johnson. I sent him the guitar after we discussed the idea a while and what he sent back completely blew my mind.
Michael has been showing his art since 1996, and has been featured everywhere from California to Connecticut. He specializes in "Mindscape" art, and you can see more of his work, and read his very impressive resume at artistmichaelbond.com.
Needless to say, I am not only selling this guitar as a fully playable acoustic/electric guitar, but as a work of functional art that would be just as suited for the art gallery wall as it would be for the stage. The artwork is protected by a clear coat, so this guitar can be played without worry. The guitar includes a custom made hangtag paying tribute to Robert Johnson that was handmade by the artist.
Now, on to the technical stuff:
These electrified dimestore are a little pet project of mine, I have probably made over three dozen of them now. I found these goldfoil pickups online and have been adding them to vintage acoustic guitars that are not in collector shape, but still play pretty decently.
The goldfoil simply mounts in the sound hole, and then I added a jack plate on the bottom and a simple volume control on the face. These goldfoil sound great in these old acoustics -- very clear and shimmery tone. In this one's case, I custom made a knob to accent the paint job!
Other than that, all I had to do was reseal the neck joint, set up the action, shine it up and change the strings. The patina around the art is to die for, it gives this guitar a ton of character. This one really has some the lowest action I have seen on one of these 615s so far, and I have had probably over a dozen. Plays really comfortably.
As always I oiled the board, changed the strings, polished the finish and tweaked the set up. This guitar is proudly strung with Stringjoy Custom Guitar Strings, made right here in Nashville, TN.
As with all of my pre-1980 acoustic guitars without adjustable truss rods, this guitar is being sold "as is" regardless of condition. (See my shop policies for more information.) Comes with a very clean vintage chipboard case, and I pack my guitars up tight and insure every package for the full purchase amount. I have roughly 10-12 more pictures available on request.
Perfect for the gigging musician or the art aficionado....or both!
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
