About This Listing

To quote the man himself

“The King of amps is back! It is one of the greatest amplifiers ever built, if not the greatest amplifier ever built”

Following a year and a half of development, Fender and Joe Bonamassa introduced the 59 Fender Twin Amp JB Edition in 2018. These were faithful reproductions of the much vaunted 5F8-A circuit introduced in 1958. These amps have become much revered by players for their excellent tone and projection.

The amp features hardwired eyelet board circuit utilising 6L6 power tubes, 12AX7 preamp tubes and a 5AR4 rectifier. Output is via a pair of Celestion JB85 signature speakers available only with this amp.

This particular amp is in excellent condition having been well cared for by its previous owner. It does have a few marks but as this is a pre-distressed Custom Shop amp it is difficult to tell what is natural and what is not. One thing that is definitely a Custom Shop feature is the staining on the sides of each one. Pretty cool we think…

As these amps were only available in the US we believe this is he only example in the UK. This also means that it designed to work on 110v so will require a transformer.

The amp has to be played to be believed. Amp recreates the subtle nuances of your playing without loosing focus or vanishing into a shroud of fuzzy distortion. Though it has plenty of headroom, it still has that distinctive tweed sound and tone giving you the confidence to just get on and play.

Here is a run down of the features -

Classic 80-watt Fender 5F8-A circuit, handwired on eyelet board Four 6L6 power tubes; One 5AR4 rectifier tube; three 12AX7 preamp tubes Fender Vintage “Yellow” paper-foil-resin tone capacitors Two 12” Celestion™ JB85 signature speakers for high-powered rock tone Custom transformers by Mercury Magnetics™ Solid pine cabinet Late ‘50s Tweed covering and grille cloth Chrome control panel with “chicken head” knobs Steel-reinforced leather handle Lightly distressed “mint minus” cosmetic treatment Vintage style cloth cover included Each amp is individually serialized as “JB0001, JB0002,” etc. (embossed into the chassis) Hand-made in Corona, California by Fender
