About This Listing

I have a lovely 2018 Gibson Les Paul Traditional here. This one comes with it's Gibson Les Paul case and it's original pickup. And pictured paperwork. Note that though hard to see, the body back is not a solid black color. It is translucent and shows the wood gain.

Also note that i now have an external Reverb sales site. This is powered by Reverb and Reverb processes the payment. This does NOT charge sales tax as it is technically separate from the Reverb Marketplace which is now triggering a sales tax liability in most states. A link to this can be found in my shop profile here on Reverb, in the lower right corner of my shop description.

This Les Paul is in excellent condition. Upon scrutiny of it. I can find just faint superficial swirling on the body top, but no dings, penetrating finish scratches or indents in this area. Overall it is a nice crisp clean surface with minimal signs of use. There is a little internal stress cracks in one of the plastic knobs. Which is very common on these and no biggie.

The body edges/sides are in similar condition. A minor amount of surface swirling is present, and i see a couple small scuff marks a couple millimeters in size but nothing ugly or noteworthy.

The body backs shows one indentation, about a centimeter in size a round one that does not break the finish but lightly presses into the finish and a couple tiny ones about a millimetre or so. There is no buckle rash or worming here and again no actual penetrating finish scratches. There is a handful of superficial surface marks such as faint scuffing or scratches that themselves are barely more than surface level swirling. There is not a collection of all over surface playwear either. More so it is a very clean body back with a handful of minor surface marks.

The neck shaft and headstock look excellent with nothing to report there. The frets are full and tall with no fretwear that i can discern and not pitting or divots. The setup plays nicely with no issues there. It is currently equipped with a hybrid set of strings that has thicker wound strings which gives it a slightly firmer feel and a bigger sound. It can switch back to 46-10 strings no problem. If you are sure you want the lower string gauge and i can accommodate that before shipping.

The electronics are working perfectly.

In total i rate this one conservatively a 9.1/10 and will grade it as excellent. It's a nice clean recently made Les Paul with no major marks, a few small indentations and as noted minor surface playwear and not a lot of that. The pictures do it justice. It has a radiant glossy look to it in person.

As for the guitar itself. It's pure Les Paul. The Traditional is like a a 1980's-2006 era Les Paul Standard. Sorta the old style of LP standard. Many feel this is the classic LP sound without chambering done to do the body. It sounds slightly denser and thicker especially in the mid range compared to the lighter LP Standards and has a nice big natural resonance with a strong presence of bass and low mids. It has a nice well balanced predictably good LP tone.

Noteworthy here is we have an uncovered Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickups installed. The original pickup is included also. The JB is a classic voiced humbucker that has more output and sustain then most PAF style pickups. So it's at home here in a Les Paul and gives you a very detailed old school tone. But with overall a little more power.

So overall this is a great Les Paul, certainly good enough tonally for any level of musician all the way up to a recording professional. The LP Traditional i also view as a good price point to performance level for a Les Paul. If you want to pay thousands more for a Historic reissue or LP Custom you can, but the quality of tone goes up very slightly from here on up. The LP Trad is a big step up above a studio or tribute.

This guitar will be carefully packed, with sufficient filler and bracing in the shipping box and if needed a little in the case. I will detune the strings about one half a step prior to shipment. Another step i take is i will denote for it to be shipped "standing" with arrows drawn on the outer box and it will be marked fragile as well. It will be meticulously packed.

Thank you for reading and considering!
