The Trogly's Guitar Show
See, Hear, Learn About and Experience your new guitar... before you buy!
The Case...
This instrument comes in its original Gibson hardshell case with all of the case candy as seen in the first photo. This includes the baby photo, Slash picks and Gibson Multi-tool.
The Guitar! 9lbs 12oz | 50s Neck
Here is a fun one - when Gibson introduced the Slash Collection in 2020 for the Winter NAMM show, many people were surprised a Goldtop wasn't in the line up. Little did we know Gibson made one in late February...
This is either a factory mess up or most likely a Prototype that might've accidentally made it out of the factory before it was supposed to. When it was sold brand new by Sweetwater - it was listed as a 50s Standard Goldtop in Demo condition for a small ding on the top of the headstock. Clearly - this one doesn't fit in with the rest of the 50s Goldtops
This has all the attributes of a Slash Les Paul Standard - including the Scully on the back of the headstock and the factory Slashbucker pickups.
This example pretty much confirms we will see a Slash Darkback Goldtop in the future and this might be the first one! For that reason - it is a rare collector's piece.
The only mods that have been done to this guitar are I disconnected the ground wire to check for special markings under the pots. I have since reconnected it - but since soldering isn't my specialty, you may or may not have to look at it again after it ships to you depending on how well my soldering holds up! The guitar is in good shape with polishing scratches and swirls.
Conclusion
If you collect prototypes - this is a great addition for your collection! On top of that - this is a great playing guitar too!
